How Stories settings tune auto-scroll and quiz audio
A parent guide to Tomorrow Kid’s Stories settings—Parental Check path, Auto Scroll During Playback, Question Audio, Answer Option Audio, and when to quiet quizzes for co-reading.
What Stories playback settings are for
Tomorrow Kid’s Stories settings are the parent controls for how narrated picture books scroll and quiz—separate from global Sound (Background Music + Tap Sound). They shape bedtime listens and post-story quizzes without muting the rest of the app.
Three toggles live under Settings → Stories, all default on, and save on this device:
- Auto Scroll During Playback — keeps the illustrated pages following narration so kids can watch without tapping every turn
- Question Audio — speaks the quiz prompt after a story
- Answer Option Audio — speaks each answer choice so younger listeners can tap by ear
Turn auto-scroll off for co-reading (you turn pages together). Quiet Question / Answer Option Audio for shared rooms, nap time, or when your child reads the quiz text themselves. Story narration still follows its own play controls; these toggles only cover scroll-follow and quiz speech.
How to change Stories settings
- Open Settings from Home (parent math gate / Parental Check first—same gate used for Sound and Language)
- Find the Stories section
- Toggle Auto Scroll During Playback for follow-along vs manual page turns
- Toggle Question Audio for spoken quiz prompts after a story
- Toggle Answer Option Audio for spoken answer choices
- Return to Stories, open a title, and confirm scroll and quiz audio match what you set
Prefs apply on this device immediately. They do not change global Background Music or Tap Sound—use Sound settings for ambient chrome.
A calm way to introduce it at home
- Pass the parent math gate yourself before inviting your child into Settings.
- For a first solo listen, leave all three on so pages follow and the quiz can speak.
- For co-reading, turn Auto Scroll off so you control the pace together.
- For a quiet room, mute Question and Answer Option Audio; keep narration on the story player as usual.
