How Kid Profile personalizes Home (name, buddy, age range)

What Kid Profile is for
Tomorrow Kid’s Kid Profile / Child Information is the device-local identity layer behind Home’s greeting. Set a first name and buddy emoji so Home says “Hi, Alex!” (using their name) with their buddy, or leave the name empty and keep the original “Hi there!” copy. Age range lives in the same Settings sheet and quietly filters which Toddler / Preschool (and later) content shows up.
Nothing here creates an account. Name and buddy live only in on-device storage; deleting the app removes them. That privacy story is the point parents ask about first.
How to set or edit Child Information
- Open Settings (parent math gate first—same gate used for Pro and My Progress)
- Tap Child Information (or the Kid Profile hero card shortcut in Settings)
- Pick a buddy from 🐻🦊🐼🦁🐨🐸🐵🐰 (bear is the default)
- Type a name (letters, spaces, apostrophes, hyphens; max 20 characters)—or leave it blank for “Hi there!”
- Choose an age range, or keep Prefer not to specify (the app then shows Toddler Learner + Preschool Explorer content)
- Tap Done—you should see Child information saved before the sheet closes
Privacy lines in-app: welcome copy says it is saved only on this iPhone with no account; Child Information reminds you that deleting the app removes it.
A calm way to introduce it at home
- Pass the parent math gate yourself before inviting your child into Settings.
- Let them pick the buddy; you can type the name if spelling is still hard.
- Skip a name if you prefer—“Maybe later” / empty name are first-class; Home stays friendly without personalization.
- Set age range when you are ready for a better-matched library; “prefer not to specify” is still a sensible default.
- Mention once that the name stays on this phone—no cloud profile for the child’s first name.
